I always prefer Desperados Under The Eaves as a Warrenism, but having followed him from his beginning to the end, this song simply capped off his career for its raw emotion of him being in his final days on this earth.  

Warren's not everyone's cup of tea, but have some respect.

Reading the comments it is pretty clear that some folks really do not realize the timing of that song. He was an unusual fellow who wrote some unusual songs, but every time I head this one, I think about what it takes to create something heartfelt when you know you are dying soon.

this is a nice little song. it makes me smile. it makes me feel feelings of acceptance, and peace with the passing of someone who was loved - this song, like many others, makes me think of my friend brandon who died earlier this year of his own hands. keeping him in my heart forever.

In many ways I tend to agree that this may not be great music, but your tone lacks the respect due everyone who listens to RP and reads these boards. Zevon, Cash, etc. all got bumps in the ratings when they passed on. It's an acknowledgement to their contribution to others, even if you're not one of them. A lot of people pass away every day, and only a few get their picture in every newspaper in a city, fewer for a region, and a select few for an entire nation. Zevons was in papers around the world. It must have had something.

Okay- this is a beautiful song and it is very poignant considering Mr. Zevon's recent demise. But it is being way over-played here recently. Please don't dystroy the beauty of rarity. (To paraphase Robinson Jeffers.)
