Yes, please make this a priority, and it would be highly preferable to make the old version available until you can fix it.

Issues I have discovered so far:
-The app logs me out all the time, so I can't rate anything, etc.
-Even when logged in, it's difficult to rate songs (or even see my previous ratings) when driving.
-Downloaded cache doesn't auto-refresh when used up.
-Downloaded cache starts over from the beginning when playback stops for any reason, even if I take care to keep the app open until I want to start playing it again.
-It's not easy to navigate to the cache and play it. Why not make that the default, if I select a channel? Or at least make it really easy to choose?
-I understand you think CarPlay is a bad idea, but I'm obviously not the only one here who uses RP while driving. What about this compromise: an option to keep the app open/phone awake, especially if plugged into a charger?

I support RP and I don't want to give up on it, but this new app needs a lot of work until it will be anywhere near as useful as the old one, especially in the car.

Good question!
Is Radio Paradise a global good?
Or is it just a family or single person good?

I dare not answer.
God can disintegrate his creation at any time he finds fit.
So can Bill.

I trust William is doing all he can & that the final solution will meet all our needs. Perhaps you & the rest of your personas out here can offer some support & patience instead of constant pressure. It’s not all about you (whichever “you” is chiming in at the moment) & you surely don’t speak for anyone else but yourself(s).

I can still install the new app from any playstore / appstore.
I can't install the old version.

Would you be so kind as to post download links for the 8.x versions (iOS & Android) from one of your servers please?

I remember Jarro did something similar many years ago by providing download-links of an older iOS & Android app version. It took place around the shift from the legacy-website to the current design.

Keeping app-versions to download could be some kind of customer-service & care, for the future at least, if I were you. Easily done on any webserver...

But how can we get the old app back? My android devices are all on the new versions and it is so ugly and stripped!
Can you restore the old app to the Play store please!

I have not used Radio Paradise since the removal of CarPlay functionality. Tidal is now my in car listening app. I am not contributing until CarPlay returns. My pledge for an initial $100 contribution when CarPlay returns still stands.

I agree. The new app is a real disappointment. Fortunately I only updated the app on my iPad, so I can still access the old app on my phone - and therefore in my car. I registered an issue with RP directly the other day because I was not able to access the ‘My Paradise’ mix. That was fixed quickly. So good news, or so I thought. Now I can’t access this mix through the old app anymore… agghhhh!

And the new app is so poor in comparison to the old one. The change makes no sense to me - why would you scrap something good and replace it with something that is rubbish?

The dissembling statement that getting rid of CarPlay support is being done to avoid “vendor lock-in” is such a weak justification for a move that has only negative effects on listeners. What has gone wrong with the people who run RP?

It is simply not acceptable to force people to use their phone in the car to start music playing - it is not safe and certainly in the UK it is absolutely illegal. To suggest that it is “more music everywhere” is laughable.

I agree. The new app is a real step back. And lacks so much! The nice slideshow is ruined with that super large oversized and useless progress bar thingie  ! And a horrible design, requiring touch or mouse, not fit for a media player, where remote controls are limited.
The old app was so pleasant to have in the living room on the big screen. Easy to control, pleasing to watch. Now it is a mediocre old school telephone app.

Retract he current app, open a beta program for a real choice of users (phone, media player, car play. watch) and LISTEN to your supporters!

I am with great regret ending my monthly contributions to RP. The new app is a very pale shadow of the old app, and the lack of CarPlay support is the final straw. I feel insulted that this is being foisted on us and the apparent lack of consideration of the interests of your listeners has fundamentally changed my feelings towards RP.
You can see the strength of feeling in the posts here (which will as always with things like this will only represent a fraction of your listeners) but we are being ignored. Some of your supporters will just drift away and maybe it will not be significant in the overall scheme of things, but I am sad that this is happening and I am sad that you don’t seem to care.

I also see on another post that the Apple Watch and CarPlay functionality are gone - I don't use the Apple Watch but I use the CarPlay app a lot and will really miss it when I am in my car.

I have been using the app on my MacMini and it was great, but the new app just doesn't work properly with really bad display formatting. The app may not have been targeted at desktops but the old one worked very well and I already really miss it.

Is there any way I can download the old app? There was nothing wrong with it, and plenty to like!

Looking through other posts about this I have to say that this change does not reflect the Radio Paradise that I have used and loved (and supported) since 2002. I am very disappointed at the arbitrary and unnecessary change to an app and its extended functionality that worked really well, to something that is very much less functional or useful. What has gone wrong with the RP ethos?

Or rather, the new App should have been done via TestFlight and gathered feedback and gained maturity…..Common, and professional, sense, no…?

👍

As I’ve commented in the iOS and CarPlay threads, it somewhat feels like a ‘work experience’ attempt at App design….I sure hope it didn’t cost RP much, otherwise somebody’s having a real laugh….

I full heartedly agree, the App is now a real poor portal into, and reflection of, the otherwise brilliant world of RP…..
