STRONG RECOMMENDATION if you have a first generation HomePod that's gone dead!
Mine suddenly died and a quick search shows that it's a faulty Schottky barrier Diode on the amplifier board. There are "you fixit" YouTubes and I've no fear of a soldering iron but once I took the lid off and cracked it I realized that it was gonna be a chore.
So - for $69 dollars (!) the Minn-Tech folks repaired the unit in less than a week including shipping. This was a $300 or so unit that I loved and now I don't need to replace. Here's their note:
We have great news!
Your HomePod has been fully repaired, updated to the latest iOS, and has been bench-tested overnight. A faulty Schottky Barrier Diode on the amplifier board has been replaced. Additionally, as a courtesy, while your amplifier board was out, we replaced four ceramic DC filter capacitors as a preventive measure. The old ones were still functional but were aging and losing their ability to hold charge, and over time they are known to cause the woofer to malfunction. Also as a courtesy, we replaced the aged foam o-ring that supports the subwoofer with a durable nitrile o-ring that enhances the woofer's balance, fidelity, and audio signature.
Here is a list of additional items we replaced on your HomePod:
- Replaced the broken top plastic control surface with a spare one that looks somewhat more decent

TuneIn tells me they're working with the Apple/Siri team on a fix for the "wrong Radio Paradise" issue. Stay tuned...
Still happening, BTW. I can easily trigger "play RadioParadise Mellow Mix" but not "play RadioPAradise."
I wonder if it stores what I"ve supposedly asked for before and won't let go of that.
Stream is already available in Applae Music and HomePod. Unfortunately I'm not able to prenounce properly or there is another reason. When I say "Hey Siri, play Radio Paradise", she says " Okay, I play Paradise FM from TuneIn". Many attempts, no success...
I experienced the same problem. Then I went into the new Music App (iTunes replacement) on my Mac and searched for 'Radio Paradise' which returned Radio Paradise as an available station in the music app. I played it on the Mac. Later, the next time that I asked my HomePod to play Radio Paradise, it was successful. The HomePod seemed to learn from my account play history on my Mac what I was trying to listen to. (I am subscribed to iTunes music; I don't know if that makes any difference.)
If play history on TuneIn is also a factor, this may explain why it's always worked for me. I'd love to hear feedback from anybody who gives this a try.

Perhaps with iOS 13 since internet radio stations will FINALLY be available. No confirmation if RP will be there but highly likely since TuneIn will be available. iOS 13 will also have new broad access to Siri in audio apps. Should be a great release this Fall. Obviously I hope for full RP access with my login & awesome auto managed cache so Iâll be stoked if the RP app takes advantage of the new Siri features.
We'll be adding full Siri support as soon as we can - and yes, we'll at least be available via TuneIn on iOS 13.
Just got a HomePod for testing, and just for fun I said "hey Siri, play Radio Paradise"
Her reply: "Sure. Here's some Lady Gaga."
Just tried this with my HomePod again (running regular old iOS 12.4), and it worked! "Sure, here's Radio Paradise from TuneIn".

HomePod is now on sale at Target for $199. You might be able to find it elsewhere if it's out of stock there. Tempting. New functionality is coming up with a software upgrade. Might get a third one...
We are definitely willing to support Shortcut (I'm the iOS developer for RP). It should be fairly easy, and I'll try to incorporate it in the next version (currently in beta and that, btw, supports playing cache blocks from the Apple Watch). My main problem is that I don't use shortcut for anything ð so I must try to use it before implementing verbs in Radio Paradise. Any hint/suggestion you have would be very welcome!

The other option is to use Siri shortcuts. The RP app doesnât currently support Siri shortcuts (I wish they would!), but there is a way around it. In my searches I found some Siri shortcut supported apps that can stream radio stations. The one I really love is âReceiverâ which has a great list of suggested stations including RP, as well as the ability to add custom streams. I think its like $3.

With iOS 12, Apple extended the capabilities of its Shortcuts app by integrating it with Siri. We can use our voice to send commands over SSH to our mode players.
The HomePod can’t directly play radio paradise but you can airplay it through your iphone using the RP app and then control volume, skip tracks, etc.

From the “now playing” screen there’s an button on the bottom labelled “Siri” which allows you to create a shortcut to that station using whatever voice command you’d like to give it. The cool thing is that now you can talk directly to the HomePod saying “Play Radio Paradise” (or whatever) and it will invoke that shortcut, steaming RP from your phone. The downside is that using this method you can’t skip songs but you can still control volume and pause/play. This app has a great selection of stations that you can add using Siri shortcuts which is awesome.
Hope this helps! Hopefully RP and apple can figure out a way to play natively from the Homepod so you don‘t need your phone around. Or at the least, make RP shortcut-enabled.

I bought a second HomePod (white this time) and found an open box version at BestBuy for $75 off!
Now, in the living room, the two act as left and right speakers and...OMG!...the stereo separation and sound quality remind me of the old days when I had a great stereo. I cranked up Rundgren's "This Island Earth" and it was glorious as expected.
Now I just have to ignore the glares from the wife when I crank these suckers UP.
And, hey, BillG - I wish I could just ask Siri to play RP with a shoutout.
The HomePod or a recent gen Apple TV can be used to control HomeKit appliances/switches/etc. So I started experimenting, one thing at a time, and now I've got about ten things being controlled around the house. It's pretty cool.
When either me or the missus geolocate near the house after having been gone, it turns on the living room and dining lights so the house isn't dark. When I say "Dinner time" it turns off the living room and turns on the dining light at 50% (for romantic ambience). "Good night" and it turns off living/dining and turns on the outside lights. They also turn on according to sunrise/sunset timing as well.
I plan on creating an "I'm scared" scenario for the wife so if she says that or pushes that button on the phone, every single light inside and outside the house comes on.
I haven't started playing with thermostats or motion sensors yet, but they're available. It's just expensive to buy all the damn switches and stuff.
yeah, it's a job setting it up
but once it's done it's righteous
i've got lights and my thermostat voice controlled
the philips hue lights are capable of brazillions colors/settings
when i'm rocking prince those bad boys are purple
when UM is playing they're orange and green
my dog likes to chill with her own setting (if i'm not home by 5 pm it pops on by her love seat)
