I was walking in the ICU while in training, and someone walked up to me and said "Did you hear the Challenger exploded?"
and I got a big smile and said, "...and?" because of course it was a tasteless joke coming. RIght?

I'll never forget that, and it all came rushing back to me today, like a hot kiss at the end of a wet fist.

Yeah, that was tough. Not quite as tough as being only 2 miles from the OKC bombing, tho.

It's sad that profit seems to be humanity's greatest goal.

The sad part is the SLS is an antiquated, over inflated, piece of equipment that will take 2.5x to get from earths orbit to the moon, excluding the 1 day earth orbit before the TLI. So much wasted money with incompetent leadership. If we used all those cost overruns, we could have had a moon base up and running for 20 years.

Im just glad we’ve finally are pointed in the correct direction. GOD Speed to the astronauts.

I'm sad it has taken most of my life to get back to this, and I'm not thrilled about the commercial interests chomping at the bit (or already sneaking past the gate). but....

For the truly geeky...you can watch them conduct the pre-launch testing / set up live now.

Now THIS is how you science.

Lemon-Shaped World Is the Most Stretched-Out Planet Ever Seen

Little bits of it being vacuumed from its pole, traveling a mere million miles through space to be absorbed into the quasar…
The mind boggles at things that exist, but that we’ve never seen.
