Love that bass line

Oh ya, super smooth. Wiki says Kiwanuka played bass on this track (as for most of the album). Such a talented artist.
The intro sounds like an homage to Neil Young

Yes!  I really like probably 95% of what RP plays.

Really like this. I finally managed to remember what the intro echoed in me, Lovin' You by Minnie Riperton, here if you fancy it. Perhaps it's only me. Wouldn't be the first time ; )

Thanks for introducing me to M Kiwanuka : )

Yes, it brings to mind a version of that song.

Don't get the 6.9. Nice funk, well written and produced pleasant song. Better than 90% of the other new music.

If only he was a blond girl doing some cheesy Americana...

Good news is less than a year from this comment, rating's up to a 7.2.

This is the type of music that force you to stop what you are doing and come back to RP and listen. An automatic 8!
Kiwanuka can do no wronguka!

I suspect this is correct.

But I also tend not to rate songs much in the 6-2 range in part the songs are not worth the effort of rating . . . 7s I rate when sitting here like this, 8 and up I will often walk over or stop what I'm doing to rate. Same with 1sa song that so annoys me I stop and have to (now) skip, so I'll give it the poke it deserves. 2ish songs I will skip if I am near the player, 3,4,5? meh, it'll serve as tinnitus cover if nothing else. Though a 3 might get skipped if I'm in an ugly mood.

I don't have the data to back this up but my hunch after listening and viewing song comments for many years is that the mean song rating on RP is somewhere between 6 and 7. Kinda like academic grades in school, C is no longer average; B is the new C ;)

I typically rate new songs I like as a 7 to start (that gets it into the "My Mix" list), and then go up (or down) from there on repeated listens.

I've yet to hear anything by Michael that didn't start out at least at 7 for me and move up from there.  Very nice.
The love of adoption?

I'm the same- I don't rate a song unless I want it in My Mix. I see no reason to downvote songs that don't move me- William plays what he wants and has stated that he doesn't care what others think, and that works for me.
this is like when Seal was good...
Love that bass line
Wonderful groove that stops you in your tracks. Would love Bill to add some music from Thee Sacred Souls.
I think this is now my favourite Kiwanuka album. I wasn't sure at first, but that's often a good sign and now after many listens I adore it. Understated and effortless.
anyone else hear remnants of torn by Natalie Imbruglia?... you're a little late, I'm already torn
Very Good Music
I am really digging his new stuff! I like how this has at its heart an ambient '70s-kinda sound, like something I might have heard on the radio in those days... Go, MK!

anyway.. 7 is a good rating, well above average. it's a 1-10 scale, after all.

Nice and chill.  Slight Simply Red vibe - and that's a good thing.
Yeah, I'm digging it.

I agree, but it may go up with more listens from soggy Scotland...

Such great sound!

I just bumped the overall rating up to 7.
Every time I hear this song, my personal rating goes up a level :)
Very nice indeed

This is quite different from his earlier stuff ... but there's no drop in quality.  He's definitely the real deal as far as I'm concerned.
Guy has a nice voice that he controls beatifically.  Pretty jazzy/Motown setting for the song is nostalgic, in a good way. Opening with a 7 from Napoli on the Gulf.
Wow - that guitar intro drew me in straight away... Chilled tune
