Nice analysis of another song of this great album:
You've Got a Friend

Not this song, but Kirk talks about the album in general too.
Try dancing to this in junior high with a...girl!

Yikes!

Dang, that was awesome, thanks for the share!
Where’s Aretha?

very nice to hear this.
If I remember correctly  none of these songs were meant to be released  as an album by Carole King . this was a demo  meant to show artist the way the song could be sung.  It was released anyway. So much the better the listening public.
Could stand to hear a bit more Carole King.  Thanks for this, brings back some nice memories.

Couldn't agree more with you if I tried! A true comment.
R.I.P. Aretha.
This song gives me goose bumps.
Watching Aretha sing this at King's Kennedy Center Honors show was simply sublime. Carole was genuinely overwhelmed. Must-see TV on YouTube.

CK was on Prime Rocks last night..(a music doco show here in NZ). So they did the full Aretha version and then interviewed someone calling it "peerless." But actually I like the CK version better, cleaner and more emotive.

Ditto.  The last played says "Never" this time only.
