Gaucho - isn't that the name of a cookie?

Agreed....I've rated this one as a 6 which is about double what I normally rate DMB songs.  I might have one DMB song rated as a 7 and I can not tell you what song it is.  I wish I did like his music considering 1) I broke up with a girl because she was such a DMB fan and I wasn't and 2) I've met the guy on a couple occasions including once when he nearly ran me and my dog over.  And I will say he's a good guy, complete opposite of how Van Morrison comes across to folks.

And BillG - keep playing WHATEVER you feel like even though some of us dislike some of what you play.  Not only is it your station which means you play what you want, you never know when the mood might be right to like something that normally would be a "sucko barfo" song.  LONG LIVE RP!

Tried real hard to get the gist of DMB, real hard. Never could. Just never enjoyed them. Tried at least.

And there was I, thinking it would be a Steely Dan cover.

Alas.

Or maybe it's a good thing- utter dog's dinner of a song.
Why do you keep playing the same song over and over?
It has violin solo in the middle just like another one this AM.

Oh wait, it is Dave Matthews!

I know that the playlist will not change so sarcasm is my only solace.

The mix is a bit messy for my tastes. I like the beginning and the lyrics make sense to me, but the noise towards the end detracts from the message, I think. A solid 6.
A Doves-like sound, without their quality. Quite what the song has to do with South American cowboys is beyond me, though I didn't listen to the lyrics long enough so maybe there's a clearer reference later on.
i am not listening to the lyrics - because often people say - the lyrics are nice - but why ?? There are enough songs out there where the lyrics AND the music is nice !!!
this comment surprises me. i have been listening to DMB for 10 years and never once interpreted their lyrics as religious. spiritual yes, but religious no. i guess we all have our own window to the world :)

I was a huge Dave fan up until Before These Crowded Streets, then he seemed to get very preachy and religious, and I couldn't stand any of his stuff any more. I wonder how this album adds up.

I would not call Dave religious, although he is definitely preaching on this song.  It's for a good cause though and fortunately much of the other songs are about his usual 3 topics (Sex, Love and Death).  I really like the new album and glad Lillywhite is back.  Lillywhite was missing during the time of the crappy albums you refer to.
Poor Dave, he suffers from way too much success.  Besides, he thinks, doesn't Bono get away with the preachy stuff, like, all the time?  The Man and his Band put on a terrific live show, very hard working musicians.  Cut the guy some slack, folks.
i'm really liking this, much to my surprise.

Great song.  Listen to the Lyrics People!
