hey, it's better than "daddy's in the doldrums"
This song doesn't mean much...to me. Sounds like a half-baked movie music interlude piece that plays when the guy goes chasing after the girl or something else.
Has the Blue Man Group begun singing? VERY tedious.
I don't seem to enjoy Secret Machines much.
It drives along and it's very listenable..but Yes it does sound like all kinds of other bands, Talking of Machines does nayone recall the Soft Machine/ Name just made me think of it must be getting senile

No kidding, if it isn't something I've never heard before I don't want to hear it ever again, OK? Are we clear on that?! Familiarity breeds contempt, and all that rot!! *this post has been closed captioned for the sarcasm impaired*
well spoken (or written, as it were)

Of course, any resemblence to any other band completely invalidates the music. That just goes without saying around here.

I was sure this was Modest Mouse. I like it.
it's not Midnight oil,but it's good too..

Me it's quite the opposite, except this song. Reminds me of the soundtrack for "Some Kind of Wonderful" in a way...

alright, chalk it up to this being my first post/Friday/a couple of beers.....but I like this a LOT. In the back of my mind I can hear E-L-O
after reading the comments below I've begun to surmise that many of you are taking yourselves WAY too seriously. . . this a fun tune, performed well, and who cares if it sounds vaguely like someone else?

I thought of The Decemberists myself. The rhythm section I suppose. Of course, any resemblence to any other band completely invalidates the music. That just goes without saying around here.
"I'll stop the world and melt with you..." So derivitive

arcade fire anyone?

This is crap.

Any chance of demonstrating that move for us? I didn't quite catch it from the drawing.
If you like Floydian light shows, heavy John Bonham drumming, and maybe a touch of Rush, you'll love these guys live. Actually their live show totally blew away their overproduced album effort. Worth seeing!
its getting better with each listen... upped from 6 to 8
The Secret's out. These machines are obsolete.

mmm... not really...
arcade fire anyone?
it's good. and the whole album is pretty solid. Nothing extraordinarily awesome, but it's definitely good stuff.

Ah. you're so jaded. The problem is, most of the stuff that purports to be "different" to me sounds like difference for the sake of it, and it doesn't make me want to listen to it. I remember back when my parents generation's (I'm 56) criticism of Rock n' Roll was that it all sounded alike. Now even the Rock fans think so. That said, this band's new effort has some similarities to Arcade Fire's sound. But it's different enough that I can enjoy it. Sorry you can't. I guess you have to go listen to radically experimental music which discards the outmoded concepts of melody, rhythm, tone. The result is usually (to me) completely unlistenable.
I like it... makes me want to hear more from the band
I love this band's music. IMHO, they advance the cause of rock music, by revisiting movements and injecting complexity into their music. The guy has a powerful voice.
Hate to say it, but after a while all this stuff sounds the same.
