than some of his older stuff.
Still love Van the Man though
If you haven't heard it, give Veedon Fleece a spin. A neglected masterpiece in my opinion.
Yep. Yep. Yep. It's the most neglected one of his first 6 or 7 albums.
I just don't get it.
I've come to detest the man but this album will always be 10 for me, start to finish. One of my all -time favorites!
He should just stick to music & keep his racist yap shut!

I used to enjoy Van Morrison but his voice has really gone toward sounding annoying and shrill.
Since his voice has not changed on this recording, perhaps your musical tastes have changed. Over the past 55 years, my tastes have certainly changed.
Van always seemed a bit of an annoyance to me, although he has recorded a handful of absolute treasures. (This first half of this is one of those treasures.)
Yep, still going.
The first time I heard this LP I didn't like it. Then it kept going through my mind so I gave another listen. Now I am convinced this is his best LP.

One of the most significant artistic achievements of the 60's pop/rock music scene, Astral Weeks is still underappreciated. "Madame George" is one of the most beautiful, yet enigmatic cuts on the album. Sublime! Yep completely .,, Sublime
I kid. I like them both. Damn shame about Bradley.

please showcase the album cover in your image carousel, start it with a 3 second view of album cover and then the other images
some of these album covers are works of art
What's that? Sorry, I got distracted looking for my prune juice. ; )
I've seen him live three times and can honestly say he's the least charismatic performer I've ever seen. His crankiness is legendary and his descent into batshit conspiracy theorist is no surprise.

Lettin' loose!
Cool song from one of the greatest albums of all time.
Definitely not for the young 10-second-attention-span crowd, though.
What about the old 10-second-attention-span crowd? They must be out there too.
this is not singing, is reciting...
Yer ears need a reaming
Oh, if you want to put the hate on Van Morrison, listen to the second disc of the The Complete Bang Sessions, starting with Twist And Shake.
Ooh, there's that 10-second attention span crowd chiming in.
Those with a 10-second attention span would likely only pay attention to the previous 10 seconds, which is about the length of the song.

Agreed on both counts. Have you heard this - twice as long, and IMO just as good. Caledonian Soul Music

I could never understand the appeal to this winer! Really doesnt belong here Radio Paradise.
First of all, what's a "winer"? One who drinks wine?
And thanks for letting us all know that Van Morrison doesn't belong on Radio Paradise.
All these years, I thought he did! So glad you cleared that up.
Should be 11
I am not sure: This song is over 50 years old, an still getting better with every decade of "aging". This is a thing usually only really outstanding "grand cru" Wines achieve. so PembrokeRoad may be right to call it a "winer" :-)
I'll toast to that and to PembrokeRoad. Vintage is King when it comes to great "winers".
You misspelled "winner."

November of 1968, according to All Music.
It's also kind of Meh. And goes on for SO LONG.
Bill plays it too...

Travelled half way across the world to see him live in Belfast and it was a fantastic, intimate show.I gave it a well deserved nine but I guess there are some people who don't get it
I confess my confusion.
Overrated

Agreed....heck I'll go 8 to 9 and help the cause out....Van the Man for the win! Long Live RP!!
......Here's another one
I was just thinking as I listened how I sometimes yearn for the days that life unfolded at this pace... just what he's describing about the train trip, et al... so different from the sped up timelapse attention span we have now (and I include myself).
......Here's another one

Exactly!!!!!!!
Suicide is painless ... it brings on many changes

Yea, it takes awhile to sink in.
Definitely not for the young 10-second-attention-span crowd, though.

Reaching for those high notes just isn't Van Morrison's strong point.
i guess you gotta be a die hard fan, to get it.
Springsteen stole a lot of his style from Van (not just from this song). At least he knows talent when he hears it, huh?
i'm not the biggest fan of "the boss" myself. But Van is definitely the man!
And yes, I do LOVE this song too! in fact, every song on this album is amazing. It's inspired a lot of great musicians
hahahahahahaha!!
The strings, please stop the strings... And that voice... oh, the humanity...
I usually love Van. This song makes me want to slug him. ![]()
Exactly. A little too much Van can be a bad thing.
Ahhh, pooor baby.
This song should have ended after 2 minutes.

I'm sensing the bliss. I adore this song.
