I haven't heard Forbert in a long time! This is a great song - I love his music. Hope RP will play MORE of his stuff. 
I'm not a big fan, had the 45 of Romeo's Tune in high school and played it a lot... but I always enjoy hearing him when he comes on. I'm a little afraid I might only like him in small doses, but this gets an 8.
Seen Steve a few times at the Coach House in SJC, whether he is playing to a packed house or just 40 of us and a drunken birthday girl named Laura late on a Sunday night, simply an awesome show. You have never heard such beautiful music come from a guitar, a voice and a boot!

I was just sitting here thinking something very similar! I think "It Sure Was Better Back Then", "Going Down To Laurel", or "Romeo's Tune" would work very well on here.

I was going to school in Maryland when "Goin' Down to Laurel" came out and I always imagined it was Laurel, MD ... whenever I heard it I felt less homesick and I always gave Steve Forbert credit for comforting me back then!
I won the Jackrabbit Slim album on a radio contest back in the early 80's. I swear I played the record to death I loved it so much. Then a couple of weeks ago my husband played a song on his ipod - "I'm in love with you" - and the memories just flooded back. I hadn't heard the song in over 25 years. Nice to hear him now on RP.
For what it's worth, I don't hear Stuck on You. Does sort of favor Dylan through the harmonica.

This poor fellow was once saddled with "The New Dylan" tag (he was one in a series of several) back when some folks were eagerly and anxiously waiting for such a thing ... seems kind of ludicrous now. Actually it seemed kind of ludicrous then, too.

this set today is taking me back a couple of years, to another state, another life, a lot of time sitting around listening to the best college radio station on the east coast (any other Brookdale Community radio fans out there on the Jersey shore...?)...
amazing what a simple combination of songs can do to the memory glands...
Thanks for reminding me about Steve. I hadn\'t listened to, or thought about him in years. I\'m off to buy some now so I can listen regularly.

You may be refering to "Romeo's Tune" - it came out in either 1979 or 1980. It was the closes thing to a hit he's had I believe...
God, this guy\'s voice makes me cringe. And his songs are all so b o r i n g.
