Lovely sentiment, but I'd love to know if he gives away any profits from gig tickets just to drink mountain water and eat leaves. Wonderful guitar playing but the lyrics are too cliché for me.

It's called metaphor. Just like when Kate Bush says we're running up *that* hill, it's not necessary to give the GPS coordinates of *that* hill. At the risk of bursting your bubble, *they* didn't literally pave paradise and put up a parking lot. And yet somehow we understand what they're saying.

I bet Xavier Rudd has a bank account and an agent. That doesn't diminish the aspirational, almost plaintive nature of the lyrics. Wouldn't it be great if we could stop strip-mining the planet to satisfy our wants, and instead accept what the planet offers for free to satisfy our needs? You know and I know it ain't ever going to happen, but is it wrong to wish maybe it could?
A modern Bob Dylan?
I can hear Bob Dylan in this and that is not a bad thing btw.
I did pay good money to see Bob Dylan in concert. I would pay to see this guy as well.
7 --> 8 when I read the lyrics
he lifts the audience and brings them forward. Saw him in Adelaide and it was sooooo goooood!!
What a great song!!! Reminds me of my old friend Jimmy Buffet..thank youRP

He literally lives off the grid in a tree house. He owes you nothing.
IF  you ever get the chance to see him live, do yourself the favor and go. Invite friends. He is special.

seems that musicians who create and perform soft-guitar 'socially conscious' music are finding their best audiences off American shores today

Nice.  All we wantis running down the mountains.  And all we need is flowing thru the trees.  Yes, yes indeed.  If only we could see this.

Love this guy.  Song deserves a higher average rating than 7.1.
Exactly what I need , thank you R P

Nice to hear lots of new, fresh music!
Just saw Xavier this summer in Karlsruhe, Germany - was great as always!
Only guy I know who can rock a mullet.

That was great.
Thanks William.
I love his style of playing be it guitar, dobro, seems whatever he picks up. That and his vocal range is incredible! His lyrics tend to take me to places I have been . But alas, just memories now that I long to re-live and visit again.  An 8 for me right outta the gate.
