All right Giants, it's that time of year, that final stretch, to really get that special something going so you can have a run at the pennant...next year.
It's getting to where winning doesn't matter as much as it should. That 13-12 game the other day was a lot of fun and the outcome was 100% consistent with all other interesting games this season. Like when JFW and I saw them in Denver. "Oh, we lost? Well it was a fun game, tra-la."
Just where the owner wants us/me: Paying for the product, not the results. Well as long as they don't just stink, that's better than some teams.
I do think Vitello might be playing a longer game than we hoped but it will turn out okay in a few years.
And it's starting to seem like the farm system might not be a wasteland anymore.

It's because they have the best City Connect uniforms. I like it better than all uniforms â regular, road, city connect, old timer's day, mother's day, ... they look really good!
impressive... but this was 9 feet further and ended a game that they trailed 4-0 down to their last strike in the 9th....before coming back to win their 9th in a row.
The batted balls aspect is certainly the reason I thought lefties had an advantage. But those opportunities are far fewer than just receiving a thrown ball.
Yeah, that's true. On average, they probably field about ten times as many thrown balls as they do batted balls, if not more.
I wonder about the differences in fielding batted balls as opposed to thrown balls. It would seem that lefties should definitely have an advantage in that area (e.g. Hernandez, Mattingly, Olerud, Helton), possibly in right field as well.

It makes me wonder about the statistical differences for first basemen fielding batted balls as opposed to thrown balls. It would seem that lefties should definitely have an advantage in that area (e.g. Hernandez, Mattingly, Olerud, Helton), possibly in right field as well.
There's an infuriating irony in the fact that the outfield fences at the "Field of Dreams" featured ads for Fan Duel and BetMGM on them. I wonder what the ghost of Shoeless Joe would have thought of that.

Certainly not the prototypical atheletic body, but he sure can play the game.
