I figured as much. But personally I find this rule rather dumb, so it would not have surprised me that they would dumb it down further by making the S stand for Skip.
All in all, just my personal opinion. It makes no sense to allow initials on both sweaters/jerseys if the first name has the same initial, but if they don't have the same initial for the first name, then God forbid they both use an initial. Let's just chalk it up as a pet peeve of mine.
I have a better solution, at least for the Hughes brothers: the younger brother should have this on the back of his sweater: J'accuse
Ugh. Copyrighted then.
edit: I guess it's a real first name, so I might be able to use it. But taunting both the LOTR and Olympics lawyers seems like a bad idea.
It's a middle name initial - there is no role designation on the team shirts, and certainly not in between a first initial and last name.

Wow. You're reading stuff I haven't written. And as for Jack and Joe Quinn, you put Jack Quinn on one jersey and Joe Quinn on the other. It's really that simple.

No, I don't watch curling. But if I did watch curling, how would I know which one is Tabitha and which one is Tara? Is the S a middle name initial or does it stand for Skip?

Obviously, you're not watching curling. Tabitha and Tara Peterson on the curling team. One has T. Peterson, the other has T.S. Peterson. It's really *that* simple.
